Changes to procedure for British expatriates in Bulgaria applying for passports
The British government is making important changes to the passport service for British nationals living overseas. As of December 3 2012, the application process is centralised and British nationals in Bulgaria should submit their passport applications to Identity and Passport Service in the UK, the UK embassy in Sofia said.
This important change follows reviews by the National Audit Office and is designed to achieve economies of scale, greater security and consistency in decision making, the embassy said. All British passports have enhanced sophisticated security features designed to reduce the likelihood of identity theft and passport fraud.
All the information required to submit an application may be found at www.gov.uk. Customers will be required to send applications to the Passport Customer Service Centre in Liverpool. There will be no change to processing times.
