Meteorological bureau: Bulgaria’s September 2026 temperatures differed slightly from the norm
Average temperatures in Bulgaria in September 2026 were slightly different from the norm, by minus one to plus 2.9 degrees Celsius, the national meteorological bureau said.
Average monthly temperatures at weather stations in populated areas were between 15 and 22 degrees Celsius, the bureau said.
The highest measured temperature was 38 degrees on September 2 in Radnevo.
In Sofia, the highest measured temperature was 33.2 degrees on September 11, and the lowest 4.1 degrees on September 24.
The heaviest rain in Bulgaria in September 2026 was on September 13 and 14. The most rain in a 24-hour period was 59.5mm in the village of Fotinovo, Pazardzhik district, on September 13.
In Sofia, the monthly amount of rain was 7.9mm, 15 per cent of the norm, and the maximum 24-hour precipitation was 5.9 mm on September 26.
Across Bulgaria in September 2026, dry and warm weather and strong wind gusts favoured the spread of several large fires caused by human negligence, the report said.
The drought at the end of summer hindered, and in many places postponed, the implementation of deep ploughing and pre-sowing cultivation of areas intended for sowing with autumn crops, the meteorological bureau said.
