Eurostat: In 2025, 5% of people in the EU drank alcohol every day
In 2025, 4.8 per cent of people aged 16 or over in the European Union consumed alcohol every day, EU statistics agency Eurostat said on September 28.
The share of people who consumed alcohol every week was 19.2 per cent, and 21.8 per cent for those consuming every month.
As such, majority of people either consumed alcohol less frequently than every month (20.7 per cent) or had never consumed alcohol or had not done so in 2025 (33.5 per cent), Eurostat said.
Within the EU, daily, weekly and monthly drinking of alcohol were more common among men than women: in 2025, 56.5 per cent of men consumed alcohol at least every month, compared with 35.9 per cent for women.
The share of the EU population consuming alcohol every day increased with age, from 0.8 per cent among people aged from 16 to 24 to 8.9 per cent among people aged 65 or over.
