Bulgaria issues new dangerous weather warnings over soaring temperatures on August 8
Most districts in Bulgaria are subject to the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather on August 8 because of soaring temperatures, while all of the rest are subject to the lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially hazardous weather, also because of high temperatures.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Plovdiv, Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Veliko Turnovo, Rousse, Razgrad, Silistra, Shoumen, Turgovishte, Gabrovo, Sliven, Yambol, Haskovo, Stara Zagora, Kurdzhali, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik and Kyustendil.
August 8 will be mostly sunny, while after noon, the atmosphere over most of the country will become unstable, the national meteorological bureau said.
Cumulus and cumulus-rainy clouds will develop.
In places, mainly in the western, northern and extreme eastern regions, there will be short-term rain with thunderstorms. Hail is possible.
A weak and moderate wind will blow from the north-northeast.
It will remain hot with maximum temperatures between 33° and 38° Celsius, in Sofia, 33°.
In the mountains before noon it will be mostly sunny. Around and after noon cumulonimbus clouds will develop and in many places there will be short-term rain with thunderstorms. A moderate northerly wind will blow. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 27°, at 2000 metres, about 19°.
It will be sunny on the Black Sea coast before noon. Cumulus and cumulus-rainy clouds will develop in the afternoon and in many places there will be rain and thunder. A moderate north wind will blow. Maximum temperatures will be between 29° and 32°. Sea water temperature is 25°-26°, the meteorological bureau said.
