Romania again scrambles F-16s over drone incident
Two Romanian Air Force F-16 fighter jets were scrambled on July 27 after a drone entered the country’s airspace, the Ministry of National Defence said on its website.
The target briefly flew in national airspace, then crossed the river border into Ukraine, the ministry said.
Explosions were subsequently reported on Ukrainian territory, it said.
The drone initially was detected by the Ministry of National Defence radar surveillance system about 36km east of Sulina.
The July 27 incident follows three consecutive days in which Romanian Air Force F-16s shot down drones in Romanian airspace.
