Bulgarian Navy’s Black Sea 2026 tactical exercise underway

The Bulgarian Navy’s Black Sea 2026 tactical exercise, involving combat and auxiliary ships, is underway from June 8 to 12 in Bulgarian territorial waters, the Defence Ministry said.

The exercise is being led by flotilla commander Fleet Admiral Radko Penev.

The aim is to improve the capabilities of the headquarters and the forces of the flotilla for planning, preparing and managing tactical actions within the framework of an operation to ensure maritime sovereignty, the Defence Ministry said.

The exercise involves vessels based at the naval bases in Bourgas and Varna, as well as other forces and assets from the Navy, the statement said.
