Bulgarian railways adds additional Sofia – Varna night train
Bulgarian state railways BDZ said on April 29 that it is launching an additional night train on the Sofia – Karlovo – Kazanlak – Sliven – Varna and back route for the upcoming summer season.
BDZ said that by doing so, it is providing its customers with additional travel options to and from the Black Sea coast along the Sub-Balkan railway line.
The train will be composed of sitting and sleeping cars, and a direct sleeping car to and from Dobrich station will also be included.
From April 30, the fast train (in BDZ’s official terminology) No. 3637 from Sofia to Varna will depart from Sofia Central Station at 11.30pm and arrive at Varna Station at 7.24am. The direct sleeping car to Dobrich will arrive at its final station at 8.41am, and at Povelyanovo Station it will be included in the composition of the fast train No. 2637 from Varna to Dobrich.
In the opposite direction, the fast train No. 3636 from Varna to Sofia will make its first trip on May 1. According to the schedule, the train will depart from Varna station at 9.40pm. Passengers from Dobrich station will be able to use the direct sleeping car, which will depart at 8.35pm. as part of the fast train No. 2636 from Dobrich to Varna. The train will arrive at Sofia Central Station at 6.07am.
Train tickets can be purchased from ticket offices at stations, at specialized railway offices and through the online ticketing system, which is available at https://bileti.bdz.bg/.
When purchasing a round-trip ticket, travelers can enjoy a discount of 10 per cent to 20 per cent off the regular price, depending on the company’s various commercial offers.
