Bulgaria issues weather warnings for November 2 because of forecast heavy rain
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for a number of districts, and the lesser Code Yellow for several others, for November 2 because of forecast heavy rain.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Varna, Bourgas, Dobrich, Silistra, Shoumen, Razgrad and Turgovishte.
According to the meteorological bureau, a Code Orange warning in regard to heavy rain means that flooding of properties and transportation networks is possible. Power, communications, and water supply disruptions are possible. Partial evacuation may be necessary. The warning means driving hazards due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning.
Those districts subject to the Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather on November 2 – also because of forecast heavy rain – are Plovdiv, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Turnovo, Rousse, Lovech, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora, Sliven and Haskovo.
The Code Yellow warning means that there could be localised flooding. Outdoor activities may need to be interrupted. The warning also means driving hazards due to reduced visibility and aquaplaning.
The remaining districts, in western Bulgaria, are classified Code Green for November 2, meaning that no weather warning is in place.
The meteorological bureau said that on November 2, the weather will remain cloudy, with precipitation in many places, significant in quantity in eastern Bulgaria.
During the day the precipitation in southern Bulgaria will temporarily stop. There will be a weak, moderate wind from the east-northeast in the Danube Plain and eastern Bulgaria.
Mminimum temperatures will be between 7° and 12° Celsius, slightly higher on the Black Sea coast, the maximum between 9° and 14°, in south-eastern Bulgaria and along the sea coast up to 17°-18°, in Sofia about 9°-10°.
In the mountains it will be cloudy with rain, above 1800-2000 metres there will be snow. There will be a light to strong southeast wind. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 8°, at 2000 metres, about 2°.
It will be cloudy and rainy along the Black Sea coast. There will be significant amounts of rain along the central and northern coasts. A moderate easterly wind will blow. Maximum temperatures will be 16°-18°, the meteorological bureau said.
