Turkish military to transit Bulgaria en route to exercise in Romania

On October 3 and 4, personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Türkiye will travel along Bulgaria’s national road network, Bulgaria’s Defence Ministry said.

The movement is in connection with their participation in the exercise Eastern Shield 2026 in Romania, the ministry said.

Eastern Shield 2026 is a Romanian-Turkish exercise focused on testing air-defence capabilities and strengthening cooperation in the Black Sea region.

The Turkish convoys will be escorted by Bulgaria’s military police.
