Bulgaria annual inflation climbs to 5.1% in August
Bulgaria’s annual consumer price index (CPI) recorded 5.1 per cent inflation in August, a rise from 4.5 per cent a month earlier, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on September 15.
The monthly CPI figure showed 0.6 per cent inflation in August.
Food prices were unchanged in August compared to July, while non-food prices rose by 1.3 per cent and services prices were 0.5 per cent higher.
Compared to August 2025, food prices were up 0.9 per cent, while non-food prices rose by 6.7 per cent and services prices were 6.8 per cent higher.
The harmonised CPI figure, calculated by NSI for comparison with European Union data, recorded 0.8 per cent monthly inflation, and the annual harmonised CPI inflation rose to five per cent, up from 4.4 per cent a month earlier.
Food and beverage prices were 0.9 per cent higher in August, on an annual basis, while the price of utilities and housing rose by five per cent and transportation costs were 13.8 per cent higher compared to the same month of last year.
