73rd International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria from August 29 to September 2
The 73rd International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria will held from August 29 to September 2, the Road Infrastructure Agency said, warning of traffic restrictions and urging motorists to drive carefully.
During the competition, traffic will be gradually restricted in separate sections of the first-class, second-class and third-class road network in the districts of Bourgas, Yambol, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv and Lovech, the Road Infrastructure Ageny said.
The temporary traffic organisation in the sections where the cyclists will pass will be introduced immediately before the race, the agency said.
The column will be led by two pilot cars. In the sections with traffic restrictions, access will be provided to special vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines.
To assist motorists to plan their trips, the agency provided information about the cycling tour route which passes through sections of the national road network.
On August 29, the first stage of the race – Primorsko – Bourgas (125.2 km), starts at 2.30pm in Primorsko. Then it passes along road II-99 Primorsko – Chernomorets, road I-9 road junction South – road III-7909 Gorno Ezerovo district – Bratovo – road III-5391 Troyanovo – road III-539 Karanovo – Aytos – road I-6 Aytos – Bourgas. The final is around 5.45pm in front of Bourgas municipality.
On August 30, the second stage of the race – Bourgas – Sliven (105.5 km) starts at 2.30pm in Bourgas, passes along the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Bourgas – Karnobat – Sliven. The final is around 5.15pm in front of the municipality of Sliven.
On August 31, the third stage of the race – Sliven – Pavel Banya (106.2 km) starts at 2.30pm in Sliven, passes along the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sliven – Kazanlak – Dolno Sahrane – road II-56 – Pavel Banya. The final is around 5.15pm in front of the municipality of Pavel Banya.
On September 1, the fourth stage of the race, Pavel Banya – Troyan (104.7 km), starts at 2:30pm in Pavel Banya. Then it continues along road II-56 Pavel Banya – road I-6 Gabarevo – Kalofer – Karlovo – Sopot – Karnare – along road II-35 through the Beklemeto pass – Troyan. The final is around 5pm in front of the Troyan municipality.
On September 2, the fifth stage of the race in Troyan (111.2 km) will take place. It starts at 2.30pm in the town, passes entirely along the closed city and ring road of the city of Troyan (seven laps). The final is around 5.20pm in front of the Troyan municipality.
The Road Infrastructure Agency appealed to motorists to drive with increased caution, at a reasonable speed and with the necessary distance, and not to undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of travellers and competitors.
