Sofia to see second Big Table of 2026 on July 25
The second Big Table event, in which a central street in Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia is transformed for a day for friends and neighbours to share in a friendly atmosphere, food, drink and music, is to be held on July 25.
The 60-metre-long Big Table will be on Aleko Konstantinov Street, in the section between Oborishte Street and Sultan Tepe Street.
This is one of the quietest, greenest and cosiest streets in the Oborishte district, where neighbours will once again open their yards to turn them into a scene for meetings, creativity and shared experiences, the organisers say.
Sustainable urban life is a priority for the organisers, who once again call on visitors to be responsible with their waste and use the designated containers for separate collection.
During the event, glass bottles will also be collected, which will be given a second life as cups, vases and decorative objects. In a special upcycling workshop, visitors will be able to see how ordinary waste can be transformed into a beautiful and useful object.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to participate in a variety of creative workshops, activities for children, culinary activities and upcycling studios. Traditionally, the centerpiece will be music, homemade food and the long table.
The program of the July Big Table includes instrumental guitar, Latin rhythms by Alex Linares (Peru), Boris Raslev, Kalin Zhechev from Mango Duende, Jupiter 7, Amira Azar, Lili Geleva, Krasi Bonchev, a DJ set by Selector Stazz, among other musical events.
Once again, there will be a banitsa competition, with two categories, sweet and savoury.
The day will once again feature dozens of small businesses from the neighbourhood. Drinks and food will be on sale from neighbourhood shops and stalls, while the public are welcome to bring their own.
The next Big Table (Голямата маса) event in Sofia will be on September 19, with details to be announced later.
