Bulgaria’s caretaker Regional Development Minister resigns

Caretaker Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Angelina Boneva has submitted her Andrey Gyurov, head of Bulgaria’s interim government, according to a March 4 media statement by the government information service.

The statement said that Boneva submitted her resignation for health reasons.

Until a new minister is appointed, the current Deputy Minister of Regional Development Nikolai Naydenov, a senior assistant at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy, will act in Boneva’s stead.

Gyurov will propose to President Iliana Yotova to issue a decree dismissing Boneva and appointing Naydenov as Minister of Regional Development and Public Works, the government information service said.

This is the second resignation from the Gyurov administration, which took the oath of office on February 19. On February 20, Stoil Tsitselkov resigned as Deputy Prime Minister for Fair Elections, a post that was then scrapped.
