Borica: Bank payment instant transfers in Bulgaria rose 69% in 2025 y/y
Bank payment instant transfers in Bulgaria increased by 69 per cent on an annual basis in 2025, adding up to 38.3 million, Borica, a technology company providing the national payment infrastructure, said on its website on January 26.
The share of bank payment instant transfers in the total number of transfers increased to 27 per cent, compared to 18 per cent a year earlier, Borica said.
The company reported a significant growth in payment transactions in Bulgaria in 2025.
The total number of payment transactions increased by 12 per cent in 2025 on an annual basis, reaching 139.8 million transactions, while their volume reached 345.7 billion euro, an increase of 35 per cent year-on-year.
The average value of a payment transaction increased from 2051 euro in 2024 to 2472 euro in 2025, growth of 21 per cent.
According to data from the National Card and Payment Scheme (NCPS), instant blink transfers by mobile number (P2P) for individuals are establishing themselves as the most recognizable accent in the new consumer behaviour, Borica said.
It said that in 2025, 2.7 million transfers were made through the service, an increase of 98 per cent, with a volume worth 424 million euro, marking a significant increase of 125 per cent on an annual basis, the company said.
The average value of the “blink by mobile number” transfer reaches 154 euro, an annual growth of 14 per cent.
