Bulgaria and the euro: Big 5 banks take different approaches to cash-in deposits at ATMs
As of January 1, with Bulgaria joining the euro, ATMs dispense only the European currency, but the country’s five biggest banks have taken different approaches to cash-in deposits in the machines.
According to the website of DSK Bank, only deposits in leva will be accepted at its ATMs with a cash-in function up to January 31.
UniCredit Bulbank’s website said that from January 4 2026, deposits will be accepted in euro only.
United Bulgarian Bank said that at its ATMs, cash-deposits will be possible only in leva until January 31 2026.
Postbank (Eurobank Bulgaria) said that from January 1, its ATMs accept deposits only in euro.
First Investment Bank said that since January 1, its ATMs that have a deposit function accept only euro banknotes.
