Penumbral lunar eclipse over Bulgaria on March 14
A penumbral lunar eclipse will occur over Bulgaria in the early hours of March 14.
A lunar eclipse happens when the Moon moves into the Earth’s shadow, causing the Moon to be darkened, and a penumbral eclipse is when the Moon enters the Earth’s penumbra, the outer part of the shadow.
Over North and South America, the eclipse will be a total lunar eclipse, the first since November 2022. It will create a Blood Moon.
Over Sofia, the penumbral eclipse will last 47 minutes, beginning at 5.57am, reaching the maximum at 6.33am and ending at 6.44am.
