NSI poll: Business sentiment in Bulgaria largely unchanged in January

A regular monthly poll by the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the results of which were released on January 30, has found views of Bulgaria’s business climate in January largely unchanged compared with those in December.

Previous polls by the NSI found an improvement in January 2024, with sentiment largely unchanged in February and again in March, improving in April and again in May, before declining in June and again in July, followed by an improvement in August, with a worsening in September and October, and views unchanged in November before improving in December.

An increase of the indicator is observed in the construction, in industry preserves approximately its level from the previous month, and in retail trade and in service sector a reduction is registered.

The January 2025 poll found that the most serious difficulties for the sectors polled remain connected with the uncertain economic environment, shortage of labour, competition in the sector and costs of materials.
