Bulgaria issues weather warnings for December 7 over forecast rain, snow
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for two districts – Kurdzhali and Haskovo – for December 7 because of forecast heavy rain.
The lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather has been issued for December 7 for several districts, variously because of forecast heavy rain and snow.
The Code Yellow warning has been issued for the districts of Sofia districts (as distinct from Sofia city), Vratsa and Pernik because of forecast snowfalls.
The Code Yellow applies to the districts of Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Smolyan, Sliven, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad and Montana because of forecast heavy rain.
The meteorological bureau said that in north-western Bulgaria and mountainous regions, there will be snow on Saturday and blizzards and snowdrifts were possible in the mountain passes.
It will rain in central and eastern parts of the country, heavily in central southern Bulgaria.
Minimum temperatures will be between two and seven degrees Celsius, in Sofia about two degrees, with maximum temperatures ranging from two to four degrees Celsius in western parts of the country, to 10 to 12 degrees in the east, and in Sofia, about four degrees.
