Construction of Ice Park Plovdiv begins

Construction of Ice Park Plovdiv is beginning, with the facility expected to open at the beginning of December 2024, Plovdiv municipality said on November 4.

The facility is being built by AST Service, described by the municipality as a representative of the leader in the production and installation of ice facilities in Europe, AST Eis- & Solartechnik GmbH, Austria.

The Ice Park will be on Central Square on an area of 5000 square metres, of which 2500 sq m will be an ice field, including a large main rink and ice lanes.

In addition to perfect conditions for skating, Ice Park Plovdiv will offer many other opportunities for entertainment, the municipality said/

Around the rink there will be a Christmas market, houses with traditional Viennese food and drinks, a sector for presentations and holding events, an ice show and much more.

From a purely sporting point of view, the facility will be able to be used by both beginners and advanced skaters. Instructors will be on site to teach introductory lessons and monitor visitor safety.

The equipment will be delivered from Austria on 20 lorries.

Unloading and preparatory work will take five days, after which 20 workers will start the actual construction of the park.

Installation, icing and testing of the cooling, lighting and sound systems, safety measures and all other facilities are scheduled to be completed by November 30.

During the construction of Ice Park Plovdiv, the pavements and green areas will not be damaged, the municipality said.
