Bulgaria issues weather warnings for August 16 over forecast high temperatures
Bulgaria’s national weather bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for August 16 for the district of Blagoevgrad because of forecast high temperatures.
Several districts are subject to the Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather, also because of forecast high temperatures.
The districts subject to Code Yellow are Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Turnovo, Rousse, Silistra, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Kurdzhali, Plovdiv and Pazardzhik.
Maximum temperatures forecast for August 16 include 39 degrees Celsius in Sandanski, 38 deg C in Rousse and 36 deg C in Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad.
At the seaside, Varna is set for a high of 30 deg C and Bourgas 29 deg C. The forecast for Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia is for a maximum 34 deg C.
The weather bureau said that there would be rain and thunder in some places in western and central Bulgaria.
