Second Bulgarian pilot completes F-16 training course

A second Bulgarian Air Force pilot has completed the F-16 aircraft training course, the Defence Ministry said on March 17.

Captain Todor Todorov successfully passed the basic course after his colleague Captain Alexander Velinov, who graduated in 2022.

The training completion ceremony was held at the US National Guard base in Tucson, Arizona.

According to the contract for the acquisition of F-16 Block 70 aircraft in the USA, 14 Bulgarian pilots will be trained.

Currently, eight pilots are at various stages of their training, with all 14 pilots expected to join the schedule this year. It is updated regularly depending on the results achieved, the Defence Ministry said.

The first of the 16 Lockheed Martin-manufactured F-16 fighter jets being acquired by Bulgaria is due to be delivered to the country in 2025.
