Bulgaria makes it possible for lenders to request European warrant to attach bank accounts of debtors

Bulgaria’s National Assembly has approved the second reading of amendments to the Civil Procedure Code that will make it possible for lenders to lodge a court application for a European warrant for the attachment of bank accounts of debtors.

Receipt, transmission or service of the order will be carried out by bailiffs.

The amendments make it possible for the court to completely or partially refuse to issue a European bank account attachment warrant.

The application for a European bank account attachment warrant may be made at any stage of court proceedings over debt.

Such a court order would be subject to appeal, MPs decided.
