Bulgaria chooses Junior Eurovision 2016 contestant
Ten-year-old Lidiya Ganeva of Plovdiv was chosen on June 11 to represent Bulgaria at the 2016 Junior Eurovision song contest, to be held in Malta’s capital Valletta on November 20.
The choice was decided by a 50/50 combination of televoting and a jury vote during a live broadcast of the country’s finals on public broadcaster Bulgarian National Television.
Like the other finalists, Lidiya Ganeva performed two songs in the finals, one in English and the other in Bulgarian – Michael Jackson’s Who’s Loving You, and Roberta’s Rapsodia, respectively.
Bulgaria is one of eight countries, as at June 11, that have confirmed participation in the 2016 Junior Eurovision song contestant.
It is the second time that Malta is hosting the song contest, which was founded in 2003. Valletta was the host city in 2014. Bulgaria was the host country in 2015.
