We will not turn into a refugee camp, says Macedonia’s foreign minister Popovski

The foreign minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Nikola Popovski, said that the country will not turn into a refugee camp and that this will not be allowed. Popovski said this at a meeting that he had on February 10 in Skopje with his Czech counterpart, Lubomir Zaoralek.

“Each country must meet its obligations. For every refugee or asylum seeker, we will offer treatment in line with international conventions, because no refugee has arrived in Macedonia by parachute, but through an EU member country,” Popovski said.

According to him, state authorities in Skopje will continue to secure human and safe transit for all refugees, but cooperation with Greece and EU member countries must not be lacking.
