Bulgaria’s Pamporovo resort to open 2015/16 ski season on December 19
Bulgaria’s mountain winter resort town of Pamporovo is to open its 2015/16 ski season on December 19, according to the resort’s website.
Use of the ski lifts will be free of charge on opening day, the resort said.
Proceedings begin at 10am with music and games and the official opening ceremony will be at noon.
With the opening of the ski season at Pamporovo, a new four-seat lift will come into use, replacing the old rope tow in the Two Bridges area at the Malina ski centre. The new lift has capacity for 2000 people an hour.
Also coming into use are two new snow grooming machines and new artificial snow machines, the resort said.
Ski pass prices remain the same as the previous season.
Pamporovo will host the European Women’s Ski Cup on February 9 and 10 2016 and at the end of February, the Sixth Winter Bike Duel 2016. In March, the resort will host the Pamporovo Freestyle Open, part of the World Snowboard Tour.
