Metrojet crash: Bulgaria advises citizens against trips to Egyptian resorts on Sinai Peninsula
Bulgarian citizens should refrain from trips to resorts on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, such as Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab and Nueyba, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a travel advisory issued against the background of the October 31 crash of Metrojet flight 7K9268.
The cause has not yet been officially established for the crash of the charter flight, which was carrying mostly Russian citizens and a few Ukrainian citizens. All 224 on board died in the crash.
“Considering the complex nature of the circumstances surrounding the crash of aircraft of the Kogalymavia airline in northern Sinai in Egypt on October 31 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends that Bulgarian citizens to refrain from trips to Egypt resorts located on the Sinai Peninsula until the final clarification of the causes of the accident,” the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said.
