Bulgaria’s September 19 – 22 long weekend weather – sunny turning to rain
Bulgaria heads into a long weekend from September 19 to 22, with the weather in major cities promising warm and sunny days but with a cooler and generally rainier end to the four-day break.
Given the opportunity for an Independence Day weekend breakaway to the Black Sea, the mountains, other cities in Bulgaria or Greece or Turkey, there may not be that many who choose to remain in the capital Sofia.
But for those who do, Sofia expects lows and highs on September 19 of 16 and 30 degrees Celsius, on September 20 lows and highs of 15 and 29, on September 21 lows and highs of 15 and 23 – but with the rain starting, and with more rain on September 22, with lows and highs of 12 and 20 degrees C.
In Bulgaria’s second city Plovdiv, the weekend opens with lows and highs of 16 and 29 degrees Celsius on September 19, followed by 15 and 29 degrees on September 20, 15 and 26 degrees, with rain, on September 21, and 16 and 22 degrees, with rain, at the close of the long weekend.
In Varna at Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast, the forecast is for lows and highs of 16 and 26 on September 19, 15 and 25 degrees on September 20, 16 and 26 with cloudy weather on September 21 and partly cloudy weather, with lows and highs of 17 and 26 on September 22.
For those heading to Greece, expect largely sunny weather throughout the weekend, except on September 21 (the day after the country’s early parliamentary elections) while in Turkey, Istanbul is expected to see warm and dry weather from September 19 to 22, with forecast highs of about 27 degrees Celsius.
