Overcast skies, fog forecast for Bulgaria’s holiday weekend
The first weekend of spring in Bulgaria – which will stretch to four days given the celebrations of Liberation Day on March 3 – will bring no major change in weather conditions, as the skies will remain overcast, with rain and fog on the forecast for the coming days.
Despite the clouds, there will be only brief rain showers in the coming days, more likely in southern Bulgaria, which will turn to snow at altitudes above 1700m, according to Bulgaria’s meteorology institute. Foggy conditions are likely on the plains and high in the mountains.
Temperatures will be fairly high for this time of the year, with daily lows between 1C and 6C, while daily highs will reach into the double digits – up to 12C on Saturday and 14C on Sunday. In western Bulgaria, the weather will be slightly colder, with daily highs of 9C at the weekend.
The daily highs will remain in the low double-digits on Monday and Tuesday, when moderate winds have been forecast. The skies will begin to clear on Tuesday, March 3, but sunny weather on the Wednesday after the long weekend will also be accompanied by lower temperatures.
