Bulgarian government approves BH Air for Sofia-Kolkata flights

The Bulgarian cabinet has approved BH Air to carry out flights on the Sofia-Kolkata (formerly Calcutta)-Sofia route, a government media statement on February 11 said.

The route has been agreed with the existing agreement between the governments of Bulgaria and India. The airline obtained the right to provide transportation services after winning a tender.

The air carrier must commence operations on the route within six months of the act of appointment coming into force, the government said.

“The appointment of a Bulgarian air carrier on the Bulgarian-Indian aviation market would contribute to increasing passenger flow to and from Bulgaria, creating conditions for strengthening economic relations and trade with India, as well as attracting more tourists,” the cabinet statement said.
