What’s On: Nigel Kennedy at Sofia’s NDK on May 10
Famed British violinist Nigel Kennedy is to perform at the National Palace of Culture, NDK, in Sofia on May 10 2015 at 8pm.
Violin and viola virtuoso Kennedy, who has performed in Bulgaria on a number of previous occasions, is coming to Bulgaria to show off his new project, that presents classics by legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix.
Kennedy, now 58, began his studies aged seven at the Yehudi Menuhin School of Music. He later studied at the Juilliard School in New York. At the age of 16, Kennedy was invited by Stéphane Grappelli to appear with him at New York’s Carnegie Hall.
Kennedy’s recording of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons with the English Chamber Orchestra in 1989 sold more than two million copies and earned a place as one of the best-selling classical recordings ever, and is one of a series of successful albums released by the violinist.
