Boat sinks off Turkish coast, 24 dead
A boat believed to be carrying illegal migrants sank off the coast of Turkey, leaving at least 24 people dead.
Turkey’s coast guard said crews rescued seven people after the boat went down Monday in the Black Sea just north of the Bosphorus Strait.
Rescuers were continuing to search the area with coast guard boats and a helicopter.
It was not immediately clear what caused the boat to go down or how many people were on board at the time.
Turkey is a popular crossing point for people wishing to migrate into the European Union.
