Foreign investment in Bulgaria’s non-financial sector increased in 2013 – official

Foreign direct investment in Bulgaria’s non-financial sector was 4.5 per cent higher in 2013 than in 2012, according to preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on August 29 2014.

FDI in the non-financial sector as at December 31 2013 was 22.94 billion euro, the NSI said.

Most of the FDI went into industry, 10.01 billion euro, while the service sector – including wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, transport, communication and services, and accommodation and the food industry – attracted 4.68 billion euro.

The NSI said that in 2013, these activities accounted for 64.1 per cent of the total FDI, with their relative share increasing by 0.2 percentage points with comparison with the previous year.

FDI in Bulgaria’s construction sector amounted to 918 million euro, 0.3 per cent more than in 2012.
