Kosovo president asks constitutional court for clarity on nomination of prime minister
Kosovo president Atifete Jahjaga sent a request on June 19 2014 to the country’s constitutional court to clarify several constitutional issues which relate to her powers.
Jahjaga asked the court in order to clarify the constitutional action of the President of the Republic of Kosovo which relates to article 84 section 14 and article 95 of the Constitution of the country, a statement by the president’s office said.
“The assessment of the compliance of the articles of the Constitution of Kosovo will enable the President of the country to take the necessary actions in line with the ruling of the Court”.
The request comes against a background of rival claims to the prerogative to form a cabinet after Kosovo’s elections.
