What’s on: Sarah Brightman at Arena Armeec, November 12

Best-selling soprano Sarah Brightman will sing in Bulgarian capital city Sofia for the first time on November 12, as part of her Greatest Hits Tour. The concert at the Arena Armeec hall is organised by Balkan Entertainment and Karma Events.

The disco-star-turned opera diva became an international star as part of the original cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s (to whom she was married at the time) adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera, later launching a successful solo career.

She is credited as one of several classically-trained artists that were instrumental in making the classical crossover genre so popular, although she herself is said to dislike the label.

Her duet with Andrea Bocelli – whose own concert at the Arena Armeec hall has been moved to August 31 and an outdoor venue because of huge interest – performing Time to Say Goodbye remains one of the best-selling singles in history, as well as one of the signature songs associated with both Bocelli and Brightman.

She is also the only artist to perform at two Olympics, singing Amigos para Siempre with Jose Carreras in Barcelona in 1992 and You and Me with Liu Huan in Beijing in 2008.

Tickets for the concert in Sofia go on sale on June 19 and can be bought online at eventim.bg and partner stores, including Germanos, Piccadilly and Technomarket chains. Ticket prices range from 80 leva (about 40 euro) to 150 leva.
