Death of 14-year-old Gezi Park victim brings the Turkish people to the streets
Major reactions and demonstrations followed the death of 14-year-old Berkin Elvan, who had been in a coma since June 2013, when during the demonstrations in Gezi Park, he was injured in the head by a shot from a teargas gun.
Elvan’s death resulted in major demonstrations in the Turkish cities of Ankara and Istanbul, with the police using teargas to repel the crowds.
The 14-year-old had become the symbol of the violence by Turkish police against citizens who were demonstrating in Gezi Park.
