Bulgarian Socialist Party MP Mihalevski dies at 48
Dimcho Mihalevski, a member of Parliament for the Bulgarian Socialist Party, died on February 18 2014 at the age of 48.
Mihalevski’s death was announced by Speaker of Parliament Mihail Mikov. The National Assembly, which had been voting on the BSP’s proposed new election code, paused for a minute of silence and then adjourned for the day.
Mihalevski died of pneumonia in hospital in Istanbul.
Kurdjali-born Mihalevski was a BSP MP in the 41st and current National Assemblies.
He was deputy mayor of Kurdjali municipality from 2000 to 2003, co-ordinator of the regional policy department in the BSP supreme council from 2004 to 2005 and was deputy minister of regional development in the BSP-led tripartite coalition government that was in office from 2005 to 2009.
He was elected in the electoral district of Smolyan to the 41st National Assembly and for the electoral district of Bourgas in the 42nd. In the current Parliament, Mihalevski was chairperson of the regional development committee and deputy leader of the BSP parliamentary group.
