Turkey protests spark clashes with police
Clashes between anti-government demonstrators and Turkish police continued into the early hours of Monday in Istanbul. Protesters set fire to barricades in the street while police attempted to control the crowd by firing tear gas.
Large crowds gathered peacefully for a series of concerts on Sunday afternoon, but as night fell chaos erupted when a group of demonstrators broke off and set the barricades on fire.
There were more clashes between demonstrators and riot police for a sixth consecutive night in the southern city of Antakya.
Protests have been held in a number of Turkish cities following the death of a protester in the aftermath of an anti-government demonstration on September 9.
