Polish treasury minister dismissed over Gazprom memorandum

PM Donald Tusk Friday dismissed Treasury Minister Mikolaj Budzanowski, after miscommunication over recent memorandum of understanding over the potential Yamal 2 gas pipeline signed by the state natural gas giant PGNiG and Russian Gazprom.

PM Tusk replaced Budzanowski with Wlodzimierz Karpinski and expects the new minister to “draw consequences” at the state natural gas firm PGNiG, Tusk said at a press conference.

The announcement follows a report on communication shortcomings in the government concerning the memorandum signed on April 5.
