Bulgaria’s Cabinet to approve plan to remove abandoned cars for recycling
At its first meeting for 2013, Bulgaria’s Cabinet was set to approve a plan for abandoned cars to be removed for recycling.
The ordinance to be approved at the January 9 meeting provides for municipalities to carry out the scheme, which is modelled on one already in use in Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia.
Vehicles with suspended registration, which have not been submitted for a roadworthiness test for two years and which are deemed to be abandoned, must be removed by their owners within three months.
After this deadline expires, the municipality will carry out a compulsory removal of the vehicle to a collection site, according to a draft of the ordinance.
