Antonio Banderas coming to Bulgaria for filming of sci-fi movie Autómata
Spanish actor Antonio Banderas is to come to Bulgaria to film scenes for his forthcoming sci-film Autómata, of which he is the star and co-producer.
According to the film’s IMDB entry, it is to be directed by Gabe Ibáñez and is the story of Jacq Vaucan, an insurance agent of ROC robotics corporation, who routinely investigates the case of manipulating a robot. “What he discovers will have profound consequences for the future of humanity,” the description says.
Filming locations are given as Egypt and Tunisia, but at a news conference in Mexico, the 52-year-old actor was accompanied by Pedro Almodovar, whom the reports said would be directing Autómata, adding that filming would take place in Bulgaria.
Reportedly, scenes will be filmed at Sofia’s Nu Boyana Studios.
Banderas has filmed in Bulgaria before, when he appeared in 2009 production Thick as Thieves, opposite Morgan Freeman.
