NSI poll: Business sentiment in Bulgaria gloomier in April 2026
A regular monthly poll by the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the results of which were released on April 30, has found business sentiment in Bulgaria became gloomier this month.
Previous polls in 2026 by the NSI found a sharp improvement in business sentiment in January, but declines in February and March.
The NSI said that in April 2026, the total business climate indicator dropped by 1.3 percentage points compared with March, with declines in sentiment in Bulgaria’s industry, construction and service sectors.
In the industry sector, the indicator was down by 2.6 percentage points, with managers negative in their views of the business situation.
In the construction sector, the indicator dropped by 2.7 percentage points, with managers more reserved in their views of the business situation, while their expectations about the coming three months had slightly worsened.
In the service sector, the indicator was down by 1.6 percentage points, with managers holding worsened views of the business situation, while they were pessimistic about both the current and expected demand for services.
In contrast to the other three sectors polled, the indicator in the retail trade was up by 3.1 percentage points, with managers’ views of the business situation having improved, and their forecasts about the volume of sales and orders to be placed with suppliers over the coming three months were positive.
