Foreign Ministry: Bulgaria strongly condemns ongoing attacks by Iran on its neighbours

Bulgaria strongly condemns the ongoing unprovoked and indiscriminate Iranian attacks against Iran’s neighbours in the Gulf and Middle East region and calls for their immediate cessation, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on March 6.

“We stand in solidarity with our partners, who are demonstrating restraint at this extremely critical moment,” the Foreign Ministry said.

“We extend our gratitude for the efforts of the authorities to ensure the safety of Bulgarian citizens in their countries, as well as for the assistance provided in the evacuation process.”

Urgent action is needed to de-escalate tensions, ensure lasting stability, safeguard energy and economic security, and guarantee freedom of navigation, the ministry said.

This position was expressed by Bulgaria during the EU-GCC Ministerial Meeting on March 5 2026, as well as in a series of telephone conversations between Minister Nadezhda Neynski and her colleagues from the region, the statement said.
