Bulgaria issues weather warnings for February 17 over forecast heavy rain
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for several districts for February 17 because of forecast heavy rain.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Vidin, Montana, Sofia district, Pazardzhik, Lovech, Plovdiv, Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Yambol and Bourgas.
The remaining districts are subject to the lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather, also because of forecast rain.
Minimum temperatures on February 17 will be between 0° and 5° Celsius, in Sofia, about 2°.
Maximum temperatures will be from 2°-3° in the north-western regions to 10°-12°, in the south-eastern ones, in Sofia about 5°.
The rain will continue overnight into February 18, turning into snow in northern and western Bulgaria.
The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 2°, at 2000 metres, about minus 2°.
It will be cloudy along the Black Sea coast, with rain showers in many places, which will continue into the night on Wednesday. A moderate wind will blow from the east-northeast. Maximum temperatures will be 6°-10°.
