Bulgarian railways offers steam train excursions on October 19 and 20
Bulgarian state railways BDZ is offering steam train excursions on the routes Sofia – Pernik – Sofia and Sofia – Radomir – Sofia in connection with celebrations in Pernik and Radomir, respectively.
On October 19 the town of Pernik celebrates its holiday, and on October 20, Radomir is holding the Day of Boza.
The four-carriage train will be pulled by steam engine 01.23, made in Switzerland in 1935.
On October 19, the special train will leave Sofia Central Station at 9.30am and arrive at the station in at 11.20am in Pernik, which is offering a festive programme including concerts, exhibitions and entertainment for children.
The train will leave Pernik at 3.20pm and arrive in Sofia at 4.43pm.
The October 20 train will leave from Sofia Central Station at 9.30am, arrive in Pernik at 11.20am, departing from there at 11.45am to arrive in Radomir at 12.03pm.
The return journey starts at 3.35pm and the train is scheduled to arrive in Sofia at 5.44pm.
The festive programme in Radomir includes folklore, a crafts avenue, culinary demonstrations, exhibitions and a farmer’s market.
A return ticket Sofia-Pernik and Sofia-Radomir costs 40 leva for adults and 20 leva for children up to the age of 10, and includes a reserved seat.
A return ticket Pernik-Radomir-Pernik for October 20 is 20 leva for adults and 10 leva for children.
Tickets went on sale on October 10, and are available at ticket offices throughout the country and via https://bileti.bdz.bg/.
