Bulgaria issues weather warnings over heavy rain forecast for September 10
Bulgaria’s national weather bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for September 10 for several districts because of forecast heavy rainfall.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Blagoevgrad, Smolyan, Pazardzhik, Kyustendil and Pernik.
The lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather has been issued for the districts of Sofia city, Sofia district, Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech and Kurdzhali, also because of forecast heavy rainfall.
Forecast maximum temperatures for September 10 are 20 degrees Celsius in Sofia, 23 deg C in Plovdiv, 28 deg C in Bourgas and 26 deg C in Varna.
The weather bureau said that September 10 would be cloudy with rain in many places in western and central Bulgaria.
There would be significant rainfall in western Bulgaria and the Rhodope mountains, the weather bureau said.
Later in the day, in the western half of the Danube Plain, the wind will shift from the west-northwest, bringing cool air with it.
Daytime temperatures will drop significantly and the maximum will range from 19 to 23 deg C in western Bulgaria to 30 to 31 deg C in the east.
Overnight into Wednesday, there will be significant rain in central Bulgaria as well, the weather bureau said.
