NSI poll: Business climate in Bulgaria declined in July

A regular monthly poll by the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the results of which were released on July 30, has found views of the business climate in Bulgaria declined in July compared with June.

Previous recent polls by the NSI found a drop in the business climate indicator in December, followed by an improvement in January, sentiment largely unchanged in February and again in March, improving in April and again in May, before declining in June.

In July 2024, the total business climate indicator decreased by 1.5 percentage points compared with June, the NSI said.

The indicator was down in Bulgaria’s industry, construction and retail trade sectors, while the indicator in the service sector was largely unchanged.

The NSI said that the poll found that the uncertain economic environment, shortage of labour, competition in the sector, insufficient demand and costs of materials continued to be the main factors limiting business development in the sectors polled.7
