Bulgaria’s heatwave: New warning of dangerous weather on July 13

For a second consecutive day, all of Bulgaria will be subject to the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather, as soaring temperatures are forecast for July 13.

This comes after weeks of hot weather in Bulgaria, and as temperatures are forecast soar throughout the weekend and well into next week, with most of the country set for maximum highs in the mid- to high 30 degree Celsius range, and over the 40-degree mark in places.

According to Bulgaria’s national weather bureau, on July 13 the maximum temperature in Sandanski in southern Bulgaria will be 41 deg C.

Plovdiv, Rousse, Yambol, Vidin, Montana and Pleven are set for 39 deg C, while Veliko Turnovo, Silistra and Blagoevgrad face a maximum high of 38 degrees.

At the seaside, Varna is set for maximum 35 degrees, with brief scattered showers possible in the afternoon, while in Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia, Saturday’s maximum high is forecast to be 35 deg C.
