Poland: Select provisions of new Constitutional Tribunal law unconstitutional

Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal on Thursday ruled that around a dozen of changes passed to the law on the top court by the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party were unconstitutional.

The Tribunal examined motions filed by the opposition parties Civic Platform (PO) and Nowoczesna as well as the Polish People’s Party (PSL) and the ombudsman on August 2, quoting the act’s allegedly unconstitutional provisions.
