Poli Genova to be Bulgaria’s contestant at Eurovision 2016
Poli Genova will be Bulgaria’s contestant at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, representing her country for a second time after competing in Düsseldorf, Germany, in 2011 with her song “Na Inat”.
“Poli Genova already is widely popular internationally, especially within the Eurovision community. She also did an amazing job as the presenter of Junior Eurovision 2015, and these were big factors in our choice,” Joana Levieva–Sawyer, the Bulgarian head of delegation for Eurovision, said.
Bulgarian National Television and an international team of well-known and respected professionals are producing the song that Poli Genova will perform on stage in Stockholm in May 2016.
Bulgaria has decided against holding a national selection, mainly for budget reasons.
The Bulgarian head of delegation outlined the other reasons for not having a national selection, either for a song or an artist, this year.
“Our confirmation that we would take part in Eurovision 2016 came very late after we completed our commitments regarding Junior Eurovision 2015, and it was already clear that our position and reputation had been bolstered by organising that contest. That’s why we believe Poli Genova has a very good chance in the competition this year,” Joana Levieva-Sawyer said.
