Deadline for EU citizens to register to vote in Bulgaria’s municipal elections is September 14

Bulgaria’s Central Election Commission said that September 14 is the deadline for citizens of other European Union countries resident in Bulgaria to register to vote in the October 25 mayoral and municipal elections.

EU citizens who want to vote have to submit a declaration requesting inclusion in the voters’ roll at the municipal administration where they are resident, provided that the applicants have not submitted such a declaration at the previous local elections or, if they have, there has been a change in their identity documents and current address.

The declaration can be downloaded from the website of the Central Election Commission, http://www.cik.bg/.

Citizens of other EU member states have the right in Bulgarian municipal elections if they have been resident in a municipality for at least six months before the election date, the Central Election Commission said.
